Who is Chandan Taluja?

Chandan Taluja is a 27 year old, Embedded Engineer, currently working in Gurgaon. Apart from his regular job, he has a youtube channel named “Learning with Chandan”, where he posts videos helping research scholars from around the world.

Chandan hails from Nangal Township, Distt. Ropar, Punjab; and completed his primary schooling from Mount Carmel School, Jindwari , and his secondary schooling from Capt. Amol Kalia Sen. Sec. School, Naya Nangal. He pursued his graduation from Punjab Technical University and post graduation from Panjab University. After post graduation, Chandan joined CSIR-CSIO Delhi Centre as a Junior Research Fellow (JRF) under a DST sponsored project which aimed at detection of forest fires in their early stages.

Chandan’s primary interest in research was ignited during his stay at CSIR-CSIO Delhi Centre, where he got to interact with research scholars from various institutes such as CSIR-NPL, DTU, IITD etc. During his interaction with fresh Ph.D. scholars from various institutes, Chandan came to realise that there is a big gap in basic research knowledge for Ph.D. Scholars. This gave birth to the idea of his youtube channel “Learning with Chandan”, where videos related to basic research are uploaded in simple hindi language for enhancing research knowledge amongst researchers. Chandan aims to make this channel, one stop channel for Ph.D. scholars so that scholars can save time and efforts and learn everything from one place.

As of Feb 2021, Learning with Chandan has over 3500 subscribers and over 150 videos.

Chandan always has a keen interest in research, which is evident from the various projects he has worked on throughout his academic career. During his graduation, Chandan developed embedded boards for automation of home coolers using Intel 8051 microcontroller. For this project, a LM35 temperature sensor and 3 speed BLDC motor controller was interfaced with a microcontroller. The microcontroller senses the surrounding temperature and changes the speed of the motor on the basis of an algorithm embedded within the microcontroller.

During his post-graduation, Chandan’s interest was shifted to machine learning, where he devised a machine learning model to detect the soil using the image of the soil.

As a part of his first job at CSIR-CSIO Delhi, Chandan was responsible for making a wireless sensor network system, which detects forest fires in early stages by sensing the level of some crucial gasses emitted during the initial stages of fire. The gas level would be used to decide the severity of the situation and send an alarm signal from nodes to the base station. This signal can be further used to signal the fire department for quick action.

As of Feb 2021, Chandan has 5 journal papers and 2 conference papers, which can be verified on his google scholar and researchgate id.
